I’m a huge fan of TED, and if you haven’t heard of it, I would REALLY recommend going to the website. While I appreciate all kinds of art forms, I’m personally drawn towards scale – large oversized works speak to my soul. Throw in building sized sculptures, and you just can’t go wrong. Even though Janet Echelman had her breakthrough in our region (India), I hadn’t come across her work till I saw this video. The sheer creativity is breathtaking, and a must watch:
Janet Echelman found her true voice as an artist when her paints went missing — which forced her to look to an unorthodox new art material. Now she makes billowing, flowing, building-sized sculpture with a surprisingly geeky edge. A transporting 10 minutes of pure creativity.
